Sustainability enthousiast
In the Circular Wind Hub project, Nina gets to implement her passion for multidisciplinary challenges in the energy transition and circularity. She gets energy from solution-orientated people who have a common goal in mind: A sustainable future for us all. Her general interest and knowledge in major transitions in society bring additional value when assessing the viability and compatibility of new innovations. She advocates collaboration, knowledge sharing, and efficiency in order to accelerate the energy transition.
In the Interreg NSR project, DecomTools, Nina supports the activities of Virol BV, by developing solutions and opportunities related to the chemical recycling of wind turbine blades. Here she designs and executes the testing of the blades as one of the opportunities to increase their circularity. She finds it important to collaborate between industries and share learnings, which result in smart solutions.
BSc in Chemical Engineering and MSc in Energy and Environmental Sciences have given Nina a great overview of the challenges and opportunities in the Energy sector. She has made a conscious choice of working in different types of companies in order to have a broad experience vertically and horizontally. This includes experience in process work at an oil refinery, advisory work related to recycling challenges, laboratory work, international trading of recycled materials, project management of joint investments, and business development related to the processing and recycling of secondary raw materials.
Fun fact: She has given a presentation at the European Space Agency about the feasibility of extracting water from Near-Earth Asteroids.
